It's back to an urban lifestyle. Life here in Singapore is so different from Tasmania. Over there everything is so laid-back & slow-paced. The whole atmosphere/mood/feel is just different. Good place for retirement but I guess it's not really the kind of lifestyle I want. Melbourne would be a better place =)
But one thing I must say which is very commendable bout the Australians is their friendliness. The sales people and even strangers are ever so warm, greeting you with a VERY wide smile and a "how are you doing today" or "how's your day", and some of them ending with a "have a good day/weekend". It's their culture no doubt but that is something we can learn from, though Singapore has a long way to go to arrive at that level of amiability and open-ness. I met some really nice strangers too..esp. this old lady Margaret (her personality is as beautiful as the Margaret River. lolz) who I met at Cradle Mountain and she chatted with me like long-time friends.
Sitting beside a nice sociable Swedish lady on the plane to Melbourne from singapore was also great, compared to the others I sat with, including a man who dropped his honeydew at my butt area, extended his arm deep into my space, kept poking my fats and even clutched my spare tyre for support (if you need so much space, go business class lah). there was also this unfriendly woman who seemed unhappy each time me & the Swede had to go toilet.
Don't know why I'm saying all these, but I guess I've got much to learn from the friendliness of the Australians, Margaret and the Swedish lady. They really brighten up your day.
Ooh oh I must say this. When AUGUST RUSH is out, all you music lovers must watch it ! It's an awesome movie..and I would venture as far to say if you don't like it, you probably don't love music. haha. Watched Alvin and the Chipmunks (very good!!), August Rush (Excellent!) and No Country for Old Men (didn't finish but it was quite boring).
